Stephanie Bankston, APRN, PMHNP-BC, RN

Stephanie is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner trained and experienced in treating mental disorders across the lifespan. She embraces the art of psychiatry and nursing and considers herself conversant as colleague and professional. She educates herself daily, and keeps her patient’s needs, desires, and wellbeing at the forefront of her practice. 

Stephanie has over 20 years clinical experience as a Healthcare professional. She discovered her love for nursing after her brother suffered a severe Traumatic Brain Injury, that landed him in the ICU for many months. The nursing staff assigned to his team often commended her regarding how meticulously she learned to help them with the care for her brother, and encouraged her to pursue a career in healthcare. Stephanie earned her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree, and graduated with the honor Cum Laude. 

She gained her leadership and managerial skills, as an Officer, in the United States Air Force Nurse Corps, where she proudly served military, civilian and veteran families, and also provided care for our Wounded Warriors, throughout the United States and in Europe/USAFE. During her Air Force career, Stephanie received numerous military awards, decorations and ribbons, in recognition of her outstanding service and accomplishments, and after departing the Air Force, she received an Honorable discharge.

Stephanie went on to obtain her Master's of Science in Nursing degree, graduating at the top her class, Magna Cum Laude, and earned her Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner treating mental health conditions across the life-span and has worked in the Inpatient, Outpatient, Telehealth, and Long-term Care settings.

It is her belief that care to others is optimized when it is derived from evidence-based outcomes and driven by integrity, ethical values, and compassion. She recognizes that individuals are unique, and espouses to respect cultural diversities from a whole-person approach. Her empathetic care, and easygoing communication style is evident when working with clients and their family members, to help them understand the client's condition and treatment plan.
